Read This Before Your Next Prop Firm Challenge

I've blown more trading accounts than I'd like to admit. The first one was crypto, back in 2017, with an indicator I trusted more than I trusted myself. Made some money. Gave it all back. Then came years of breaking even, which is just losing slowly with extra steps.

When I found futures and prop firms in late 2024, I figured I'd finally cracked it. I hadn't. I failed challenge after challenge. Apex first, then a few others. Each one was a fresh hundred bucks and a fresh lesson in why I wasn't ready. Sound familiar? If it does, you're exactly who I built this for.

What Is Prop Firm Base?

Prop Firm Base is an independent comparison site and trading school for futures traders. We rank prop firms honestly, verify the deals before we post them, reward you for being part of the community, and teach the part nobody sells you: mindset and risk. No hype, no firm in our pocket.

That's the whole thing. A straight answer when you're working out which firm to trust, and real help with the stuff that actually keeps you funded once you're in.

Why Are Prop Firms a Godsend for Beginners?

Because they let you risk a hundred dollars to find out if you can trade, instead of risking thousands of your own. You pay a small fee, you take an evaluation, and if you pass, you trade the firm’s capital and keep most of the profit.

Think about what that replaces. The old way was funding your own account with money you couldn't afford to lose, then watching it evaporate while you learned. A $50K evaluation costs around a hundred bucks. Blowing your own $50K costs fifty grand. That math is the whole reason this industry exists, and for a beginner it's a genuinely good deal, as long as you walk in with your eyes open.

What You Actually Get Here

Everything you need to choose a firm and survive once you’re funded, in one place.

Prop Firm Base features: honest rankings, real reviews, side-by-side comparisons, verified deals, trader rewards, and an education library

Honest Rankings and Ratings

We rank firms on the same criteria for everyone: drawdown rules, payout speed, platforms, pricing after discount, and how they treat funded traders. Rankings are never for sale, so a firm paying us more doesn’t climb. See where each one lands in the firm directory.

Real Reviews and Side-by-Side Comparisons

Reviews come from real funded traders, not press releases, and we lean on payout proof wherever we can get it. When you’re torn between two firms, the compare tool puts them head-to-head on the things that actually decide it, so you’re not guessing.

Verified Promotions and Discount Codes

Evaluations are cheap, and a good code makes them cheaper. We hunt down the best offers and test them before they go live, so the discount works when you click it. They’re all on the deals page, with the catch and the expiry spelled out.

Rewards for Being Part of It

You shouldn’t have to pay full freight to be part of a community you’re helping build. We’re rolling out a transparent, dollar-denominated rewards system, so the things you already do here (reviewing firms, sharing, sticking around) earn you something back. More on that soon.

A Real Education Library, and It’s Growing

This is the part I care about most. The Learn hub is where we teach the skills that actually keep you funded: how evaluations work, trailing versus end-of-day drawdown, consistency rules, position sizing, and the inner game. It’s small today and it’s going to get a lot bigger. That’s a promise, not a maybe.

Why I Failed for so Long (it Wasn’t The Strategy)

Not the strategy. It was never the strategy. I failed because of my own head and my risk control, the two things almost nobody teaches because you can’t package them as an indicator and sell them.

I had setups. Plenty. What I didn’t have was the discipline to size properly, the patience to wait, and the nerve to walk away after a loss instead of revenge-trading my whole drawdown in one tilted session. I did that more than once. Twice in a week, one time.

The chart is the easy part. You are the hard part.

Trader Psychology Is The Real Skill

Here's the thing nobody tells you while they're selling you a course. The chart is the easy part. You, sitting there at 9:31 with your finger over the button, are the hard part.

Fear, greed, tilt, the urge to make it all back right now. That’s what blows accounts, not a missing indicator. So a big chunk of what we teach is the psychology and risk side: how to lose a trade without losing your head, how to size so one bad day can’t end your account, and how to read different market conditions instead of forcing the same play into all of them.

How Does Prop Firm Base Make Money?

Affiliate commissions. When you sign up to a firm through one of our links, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. We say so on every page, up top, because you deserve to know.

Here's the part that matters. It never changes our rankings. We're not tied to any single firm, and we don't push one over another because it pays better. That independence is the entire point. You can read the full disclosure any time.

Where Should You Start?

If you keep failing evaluations, start with the guides, because the firm probably isn't your problem. Your risk management is. Mine was. If you've got that handled and just need a firm, the directory and the deals page will sort you out in a few minutes.

I'm still trading. Still learning. A few steps ahead of where you might be right now, and I remember exactly what the early part felt like. That's the whole reason this place exists. Glad you're here.

Risk warning: Trading futures carries a substantial risk of loss and isn't suitable for everyone. You can lose more than you put in. Nothing on Prop Firm Base is financial advice, and we're not registered investment advisors. Prop firm evaluations have their own rules and costs, and most people who attempt them do not pass. Trade with money you can afford to lose, and do your own research.
